Overview
Visiting Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is an extraordinary experience you will never forget while on your Ngamba Island Visit. Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is considered one of the leading primate sanctuaries in Africa; you will receive personal attention from an internationally trained staff and observe the 49 chimpanzee residents up close and personal from a raised viewing platform that provides a full view of their behavior and interactions.
Ngamba Island Visit
After early morning breakfast at your hotel/ place of resident, you will embark on your drive to Entebbe where you will take a boat cruise on Lake Victoria to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and have a chance to view chimpanzees feeding. You will also be treated to sights of monitor lizards, birds, and other photographic opportunities.
Upon arrival at the sanctuary, you will be directed to our visitor’s center where you will be introduced to the project, its history, our residents and their plight of full day activities. You will receive a personal orientation by a chimpanzee caregiver and view a feeding of the chimpanzees of a two times from the visitors’ raised platform area along the edge of the sanctuary fence. Our day visitors can also ‘get their hands dirty’ by being part of the feeding team. This is an opportunity for you to feed the chimpanzees from the platform. On top of being able to feed your favorite chimp, you will also watch as the chimps excitedly try and gain your attention to receive food. And then you will enjoy our fresh lunches prepared on-site. During your visit you will experience shopping at the island gift shop, bird watching, experiencing other wildlife encounters, swimming on the equator, visiting a neighboring fishing village or simply sunbathing and relaxing. Thereafter you will embark on boat cruise back to Entebbe to meet you your tour guide/driver and then back to Kampala.
